Iconic Foods Beloved Only by Baby Boomers

Mrs. Dash

Boomers used this spice a long time ago, and a lot of people still do. This spicy mix is known for being a tasty salt substitute and has been around for a long time. It promises to "bring your taste buds back to life." There are always risks, though, when using salt substitutes. There are more than 20 things in Mrs. Dash, such as onion, cayenne pepper, tomato, garlic, carrot, orange peel, citric acid, oregano, thyme, black pepper, oil of lemon, and more. We don't know what is overkill if that's not it.

If you have heart disease or high blood pressure, you should talk to your doctor before using Mrs. Dash. Be careful out there.

Vienna Sausage

People in the Baby Boom generation have been known to choose quick and easy meals over healthy and tasty ones. So it's not surprising that they like canned food so much. People loved the Vienna Sausage in the 1960s and 1970s, even though it had things like sheep intestines and parboiled pork in it. Really? Sheep intestines? We still don't understand why Boomers like this meal so much.

If you were starving and had nothing else to eat, this would be the kind of meal most people would eat. Don't bring Vienna Sausages back. Your body is begging you.

Plain Toast

Let's be real. If you want to really enjoy the food for what it is, it's okay to be one of those people who won't add sugary toppings or cheese to it. But it's hard not to judge someone who likes the taste of plain dry toast. How can anyone think that eating plain, dry toast is a good thing when they choose it for breakfast every day?

Even the British trend of putting beans on toast is better than plain dry toast. At least the toast has something on it. If someone can easily eat plain, dry toast, you should be careful around them.

Mayonnaise-Based Salads With Fruit

What do you think of when you think of salads? We bet you think of healthy and green, don't you? Boomers didn't get the memo that salad dressings should also be light and low in fat. If you're just going to cover it in mayonnaise, why bother making something that's supposed to be good for you? We can't believe that Boomers ate salad this way. It's even harder to understand how they still eat it this way.

Are we the only ones who think that eating salads with mayonnaise in them totally defeats the point of eating salad? Are we missing something here?

Canned Soup

Have you ever asked your grandparents for the recipes for the meals they made for you when you were a kid and you loved? You'd be surprised at how many processed foods they use. Boomers love quick and easy meals. So, canned soup is something that a Boomer will probably like. On the other hand, millennials care more about using fresh ingredients when they cook.

Why buy canned soup when making soup at home is so easy? It tastes like metal and is full of sodium and preservatives. Why would anyone knowingly eat something that is going to hurt their health?

Ham Salad

You think you've seen it all, and Boomers can't surprise you with their crazy food anymore. Then you see a dish like ham salad and can't believe it. Some people should never be allowed in the kitchen, and ham salad is proof of that. We know that Boomers love to put mayonnaise on everything. We didn't know that Boomers thought everything was fair game. Mayonnaise and ham? Sounds good. They went even further and added grapes to the mix.

The food horror you see here is the result. But who are we to judge if it makes Boomers happy?
