Iconic Foods Beloved Only by Baby Boomers
Aspic
Millennials really hate aspic, even though a lot of them have never tried it. Is the hate unfair? No, we don't. Aspic wraps meat in gelatin, which makes for a disgusting and terrifying meal. Why would anyone think mixing meat and gelatin was a good idea? Any Boomer would tell you that Aspic is a solid piece of jelly with meat in it that tastes saltier and more savory than Jell-O.
Boiled Vegetables
A lot of Millennials have asked how boomers knew that vegetables should be boiled and overcooked. Who told them that vegetables should be gray mush before they eat them? People probably started overcooking vegetables when they canned a lot of them at home. They thought it was safer to boil these vegetables for a long time. The truth is that vegetables that have been boiled plain are bland. They don't taste good and their texture is almost nonexistent.
Summer Sausage Snack Platters
In the past, you knew it was the holidays when people gave each other summer sausage platters. Summer sausages would suddenly show up in local gift and meat stores, and Boomers were excited at the thought of getting these platters as gifts. If you gave Millennials summer sausage snack platters, they would probably think it was a joke. There are more fun and interesting gifts out there, so why would anyone choose summer sausages?
Soda
Soda has never been and will never be healthy for consumption. A trend started by Baby Boomers has led to people all over the world being addicted to soda. Sodas have ingredients like caffeine and sugar that make them tasty and addictive. If you drink them every day, you can be sure to get a lot of health problems. There are many kinds of soda, from diet to zero calories, and each one has its own problems.
Buffets
We don't blame you if you haven't figured out how bad and unhealthy buffets are yet. You probably won't think about how healthy the food is when you can eat as much as you want for one price. If you think about it for a second, buffets are kind of gross. Someone is always getting up close and personal with the same dishes and utensils you are. They might even carelessly touch the food with their hands, which could spread germs and diseases to you.
Juice From Concentrate
We really understand why Boomers think juice concentrates are a good choice. It's not surprising that older people like juice from concentrate better than fresh juice, since a glass of orange juice costs so much. But you can get fresh-squeezed orange juice at a reasonable price at your local store. It's better for your health, cheaper, and easier to use. A lot of juice concentrates are very processed and have a lot of food additives in them. You also have to wait for it to be ready after thawing it, mixing it with water, and letting it sit.
